Give me a hug mama! (7 months old)
I keep telling mama that I should model.. does she listen…..tsk tsk! (6.4-7 months old)
He can sit, crawls all over the place. Has 8 teeth, 4 on the top and 4 on the bottom. He is also pulling up to stand, uses everything that he can and when he is halfway up and gets stuck.. I am summoned with a scream :-). Chewing on everything, his crib has gnawing marks. Pinching is his new thing. Gives mama open mouth kisses :-). Loves any electric cable that he has access to and they go straight to his mouth. And he loves to scream. He has a high pitch, loud, LOUD scream. He is also slowly begining to understand the meaning of “NO”.
He eats solid food twice a day. Porridge and yorghut in the morning. Snacks on oranges, rice cakes and bread during the day. For dinner he will have mash of one of the following: sweet potatoe, buttersquash, potatoe, squash with broccoli, liver pate, chicken, fish, peas etc. (rice and pasta will be started next month)
He still has issues with tummy gas so I am holding off beans for some time. He eats ugali when I make it. I am yet to try matooke.. but I am sure he will go for it. Loves water.
Still sleeps horribly….. but I have settled about it.. so no more moaning. I still have rough days, like the other night I was like “I am going to beat you right now”after waking up for the nth time during the night.
That’s about it from Niksville!
His death is hitting me like I knew him personally. My heart weeps for his children. No child should have to see thier parent murdered.
I love his music. He used to tour in Uganda quiet often and was truly loved there. I started really liking him after one of his first visits to Uganda, when I heard him speak on a show called “Desert Island Disks” on Capital FM. I was struck by his intelligence which resonated through the raido waves and thus begun my true love affair with Lucky Dube. I introduced Big Al to him and since then we went on to collect /burn most of his CDs. When I left for the UK, the first tapes I bought to take with me were Lucky Dube tapes. I love his songs and music. My favourite Lucky song is “Exile”.
God bless his family and may He receive your Spirit. His untimely death has earned him a spot in the hall of AFRICAN LEGENDS.
Today I am thankful because:
- I am wearing some tightass bad jeans that were revived from my archives, they FIT and I look HOT!!.
- My baby is growing, is healthy, happy and well fed. He is so sweet and is learning how to kiss mama.
- I am in love, he loves me.. what more can I say… we are on an “in love flow” at the moment and it’s lovely.. I feel young!!
- The sun is shining, the sky is blue.. aieh, its a lovely day.
- I JUST FEEL GOOD TODAY…. FEEEL GOOOOOD!
HAVE A FEEL GOOD DAY!
Big Al and I are having an argument about relations and relatives. It started like this.
I was insisting that we visit his aunt (mum’s sis) because I want Nik to know his relatives in this city. Aunty S has 2 children, one pre-teen and one teenager. Big Al then asks me what is the name or term of the relation between Nik and Aunty S’ children who are Big Al’s first cousin. I’m like “of course they are cousins”. Big Al then challenges me saying that is “Ugandan definition” so I look up the definition of cousin in Oxford Dictionary and it says
- a child of one’s uncle or aunt
- a person of one’s own age or generation to whom one is not closely related.
Now I am confused and not confused. Me thinks the English language is limited.
There is no doubt that Nik and Big Al’s cousins are related. Big Al and the cousin’s grandmother is Nik’s great grandmother.
So is there a term to correctly express this relationship or does the related-ness of people end after second cousin???
Check this out. My great grandfather GF had my grandmother Wawa and my grand aunt Wawa M (wawa =grandparents). Wawa has mom. WawaM has Uncle N. Mom and Uncle N = first cousins. Mom has Mrembo. Uncle N has Mags. Mags calls Mom Aunty and I call Mags dad Uncle. Mags has Sophie and Mrembo has Nik. Mags and Mrembo= second cousins. So are Nik and Sophie cousins or…….
